The YWCA TechGYRLS after-school program is a FREE “girls-only” environment, specifically designed to broaden a girl’s technical knowledge.  We help participants develop the confidence to use technology tools, discover links between enjoyable technology projects and STEM subjects, and enhance their critical thinking skills.  The girls are encouraged to construct, design, produce, animate, analyze, integrate, visualize and explore.

The overall goal of this program is to make a dramatic & significant impact on at-risk girls ages 9 -15 who’s access to, and experience with, technology software would otherwise be severely limited. The program provides participants the academic support required for school success by fostering foundations for learning, confidence, persistence, organization, teamwork, and socialization. Girls gain confidence using technology tools though every activity, even if it's just doing homework.  Activities include the TechGYRL curriculum, homework/tutoring assistance, mentoring, job-shadowing, nutritional snacks and physical education.

Girls are selected for the program based on recommendations from their school counselors.
