NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY CLINIC

The Girls in Sports clinic is a great way for young girls to see positive role models in diverse areas of athletics. It has been proven that girls who are involved in sports have a higher self esteem, do better in school and have a decreased risk of being involved with drugs, alcohol and teen pregnancy.

All participants will receive a snack bag, a goody bag, a T-shirt and certificate of participation at the end of the event. Anyone who wishes to register for the clinic may pick up forms at the YWCA.

Cost for the clinic is $10.00. For more information or to volunteer, call 423-968-9444.

Since the program's inception in 1997 athletes and coaches from various local colleges and high schools have been volunteering their time to teach young girls in the skills of different sports.

Girls in Sports is a program developed by the YW, the goal being to show young girls, ages 7 through 12 years, the variety of high school and collegiate sports that are available to them.

Sponsored by Girls Incorporated, Viking Hall, Virginia Intermont College and the YWCA.
